Taxonomy/phylogeny:
Comment:H. uvarum is sometimes used in wine production together with Saccharomyces cerevisiae to influence the aroma and colour of the wine.

It has also been shown that H. uvarum is part of the flora of microorganisms, which grows during the production of kimchi.
